Arrival by car
PARKING : Directly next to the Hotel is the parking area “Le Centenaire”. This is a 24-hour, covered, paid parking. The hotel parking will probably be full.
Arrival by plane
For international arrivals, Geneva International Airport (GVA Cointrin) is the closest airport. The total travel time from Geneva airport to Villars by direct train is 2.5 hours, including one short transfer stop (see transfer info below).
Getting the train
Arriving in Geneva and getting to the train is quite easy. Follow the signs in the arrival area to the train station located in the basement of the airport (5 min walk). Direct trains for the Alps leave each hour.
If the weather cooperates you will enjoy a fabulous lakeside ride with a majestic view of the Savoy Alps (F) for almost the entire voyage.
Transfer in Aigle … or Bex
You may take either a mountain train or bus to arrive in the village of Villars.
Important: although the direct intercity trains run every hour, the bus and mountain train run alternately every two hours. Please check in advance for the option which coincides with the train you take from Geneva Airport.
- Transfer in Aigle : Take the bus located just outside the train station in Aigle.
- Transfer in Bex : Take the mountain train in the Bex station.
Train Station to the Congress Hotel
Both the train from Bex and the bus from Aigle arrive at the main train station in Villars.
The Hotel Viu is located just across the street from the Villars train station.
Advance Ticket Purchase & Swiss Railway App
You may purchase (and print) advance train tickets and check the timetable here (use Geneva Airport as your departure station and Villars-sur-Ollon for the arrival station). Please note that directions are similar for arrivals from Zurich airport (ZRH), but the travel time by train to Bex is approximately 3 hours. There are also smaller airports in Bern and Basel as well.
A Swiss Railway app (SBB mobile) is an excellent way of keeping track of all departure and arrival times with real time data. You can also purchase tickets in advance directly within the App.
