Abstract
Metrology, a Strategic Lever for Modern Industry
In the era of Industry 4.0, metrology evolved from a simple quality control function into a strategic driver of manufacturing performance. This presentation explores how optical metrology enables fast, non-contact, and high-precision measurement directly within production environments using lumen, a 2D measurement system developed by Petitpierre.
By integrating measurement data into an Automated Process Control (APC) system, manufacturers can implement closed-loop correction of Swiss-type turning machines, automatically adjusting tool offsets to compensate for process drift.
This approach enhances process stability, reduces scrap, and improves overall equipment efficiency, positioning metrology as a key enabler of smart, data-driven production.

Bio
An EPFL-trained physicist, I began my career in the watchmaking industry in 2017, working with prestigious brands, where I developed strong expertise in precision engineering and high-end manufacturing standards.
I then moved into R&D within the Acrotec group in 2020, focusing on vision algorithms for advanced industrial applications.
Currently, I serve as Head of Metrology at Petitpierre, overseeing dimensional and chronometric measurements, and contributing to the development of robust, high-precision measurement solutions for modern industry.
